2015 Breweries & Cideries
The VB Brewery
We’re a nano-brewery located in the scenic village of Victor, NY, on 160 School Street. We brew lots of different recipes and we’re always experimenting with new beer. With 12 regular taps, and a 13th Nitrogen stout tap, we have a little something for everyone.
The brewery opened in 1997 to craft-brew fine Belgian-style ales. Ommegang brews eight ales year-round, as well as an extensive and imaginative range of seasonal and specialty ales. The beers have won a national following by connoisseurs of fine beer and are distributed in 43 states and internationally. Ommegang is located on a 136-acre farmstead in Cooperstown, New York and offers free daily tours and inexpensive tastings as well as a well-stocked brewery store and an annual calendar of public events.
F.X Matt/Saranac Brewing Company
The brewery and the award-winning craft beers produced here make it an upstate destination and landmark in the industry. Visitors enjoy a tour that’s part brewery and part museum. F.X. Matt proudly houses Victorian opulence and artifacts from many, many decades past in addition to its signature copper boil kettles and state-of-the-art bottling operation. “The consumer is always looking for new, better, fresher ingredients and that’s what drives the industry,” Saranac brewer Andrew Hausman says. “You want to know your best stuff is out there.”
Ellicottville Brewing Company
The Ellicottville Brewing Company is a select micro-brewery of fabulous craft beers with a tremendous american cuisine menu. Hand-crafted beer, great food and entertaining people all right in the heart of New York’s Ski Country.
Keegan Ales was founded in early 2003 when Tommy Keegan learned about an empty building in Kingston that nobody would buy because there was a defunct brewery stuck in it! After getting the brewery up and running selling draft beer, the crew at Keegan Ales turned their attention to the defunct bottling line. It had been left broken and literally in hundreds of pieces. It took months of pounding, tinkering and countless scratching of heads, but by the summer of 2004, Keegan Ales was available in 12 ounce bottles!
Keegan Ales has gone on to win many more awards and recognitions, including Best Brewery in The Hudson Valley (2009), Best Brewery in New York State (2009) and Best Craft-Brewed Beer in New York State (2009). Early in 2010, The New York Times declared Mother’s Milk one of the top ten stouts in North America and Keegan Ales has also been awarded 2010 Small Business of the Year by The Ulster Chamber of Commerce and The Ulster County Development Corporation.

We love to experiment in different styles and tastes and have grown to many different products in which we are very proud of. Over the years, we have expanded our brewing systems and continue to develop unique beer for our customers. In April of 2014, we were honored to have won the F.X. Matt memorial Cup Award at the Tap NY Festival, giving us the distiction of "Best Craft Brewery in NYS". The trophy sits proudly in our tasting room.
Blue Toad Hard Cider
Born in a barn, Blue Toad Cider honors the tradition and legacy of America’s first preferred beverage by brewing an all-natural and eminently drinkable hard cider using only locally grown Western New York apples. Rather than solely using European-style tart and bitter apples, Blue Toad uses a cider blend of three different apples (replete with natural seasonal variation) grown and pressed at Schutt’s Apple Mill in Webster, New York, which has been producing some of New York’s finest sweet cider since 1918.

While contemplating location for this venture it became clear that Rochester had much to offer. Harpoon Brewing Co.
Harpoon was started in 1986 by Dan Kenary, Rich Doyle, and George Ligeti. Traveling through Europe and experiencing the rich traditions of European brewing and beer drinking enhanced their love of beer and opened their eyes to the rich beer culture they wanted back home. They decided to build a brewery so that they could brew the beers that they wanted to drink, and invite their friends to the brewery to drink it with them. Though many things have changed since the early days of Harpoon, much has stayed the same. We still love brewing beer and enjoying it with friends.
Grist Iron Brewing Company
Opened in the spring of 2015, Grist Iron Brewing Company joined a growing league of fine craft beer artisans along the shores of Seneca Lake, NY. Food is important so along with a fantastic craft beer selection, made by brewer and co-owner Patrick Palmer, our pizza ovens serving as the foundation for our signature menu using as many fresh, local ingredients as possible.
CB Craft Brewers
Sixteen years ago, Mike Alcorn left Kodak and forever changed the landscape of craft brewing in Western New York. Disappointed by the lack of quality craft beer in the area, Mike decided to open a brewery in Honeoye Falls, NY and brew private label beers for area bars and restaurants. He named the brewery Custom BrewCrafters to reflect the company's core business model of brewing private label beer. Examples include Jeremiah's Frog Grog and Distillery Scotch Ale. A small tasting room was built to give customers the opportunity to sample the private label brews and take home filled growlers. Within a few years, the overwhelming success of the business allowed Mike to brew a few craft beers under their own brand "CB" and sell them to select retail markets and draft accounts in Rochester, NY.

Anderson Valley Brewing Company
Anderson Valley Brewing Company was founded on December 26th, 1987 in the town of Boonville, CA. In the beginning, we brewed out of a modest 10-barrel brewhouse located in the lower level of our original brewpub, The Buckhorn Saloon. Gleaming stainless steel vats brewed and fermented barley and other specialty grains to create outstanding ales, porters, stouts, and wheat beers that gained a cult following among fans of the growing craft beer movement. At the time, we were one of only 20 craft breweries in the country and have long been considered one of the pioneers of the craft beer industry.
Lagunitas Brewing Company
The core of Lagunitas came from Chicago, St Louis, Memphis, Walker Creek, and the highlands of Quincy. The Chicago contingent initiated the brewing and the gravitational effect of its suchness did the rest. We all loved the beer but the mission was larger than the ordinary joy of a hoppy-sweet quaff. It was driven unseen by an urge to communicate with people, to find our diasporidic tribe, and to connect with other souls adrift on a culture that had lost its center and spun its inhabitants to the four winds to wander lost and bereft with a longing to re-enter the light. Beer, we have learned, has always been a good lubricant for social intercourse!
The Lagunitas Brewing Co. was not so much an act of ordinary 'foundling' as it was willed into being by the unspoken desire of supportive beer-lovers in Northern California after which they continued to nurture their creation and urged us forward to fulfill the unifying needs of that same beer-loving diaspora from coast to coast and beyond. It is good to have friends!
Embark Craft Ciderworks
Embark Craft Ciderworks was founded by apple growers, passionate about farming and showcasing unique flavor profiles in craft ciders. As farmers first and foremost, we know it’s the quality and uniqueness of the apples we use that make a great cider. We trust the apples (and in some cases, other fruits and natural ingredients) to provide the exceptional flavor you’ve come to love. No artificial ingredients needed.
Jacks Abby Brewing
Founded in 2011 by three brothers, Jack, Eric, and Sam Hendler, Jack’s Abby has become a mainstay of the craft brewing scene in the Northeast and nationwide.Jack’s Abby brews lagers, and only lagers. Lagers feature a distinctive smoothness and fullness that no other beer has and we think everyone deserves.
Grimm Artisanal Ales
Grimm Artisanal Ales is a Brooklyn-based nomadic brewery founded in 2013 by Joe and Lauren Grimm after nearly a decade of tinkering with fermentation. The couple develops each recipe in the kitchen of their Gowanus apartment and travels to existing breweries near and far to craft their beers. Grimm specializes in concise, elegant ales epitomizing the creative, experimental spirit of the American artisanal beer revolution. Each one is a single-batch, limited-edition release that may never come around again.
Evil Twin Brewing
We are so much in love with good taste, all the beers from Evil Twin are prepared in 10 of the best breweries around the world. Exclusively hand picked to please you with delicate, funky, extreme and by all means rare flavors. Maybe not the easiest way, but certainly the most fun!!!
Oskar Blues Brewery
In 2002, our funky little Colorado grown brew-pub started stuffing our huge, voluminously hopped mutha of a pale ale in a can (Dale's Pale Ale). That not only began the craft-beer-in-a-can craze, but has grown to add a brewery to the hills of Pisgah National Forest in Brevard, NC and another in the Live Music Capital of the World, Austin, TX, in 2016. Cans keep beer fresher, longer by eliminating the damaging effects of light and ingressed oxygen while being infinitely recyclable and portable...taking them where your next soul saving adventure takes you.
